What is in malts????

im eating 1 and it just occured what is the difference between a malt and a shake?

  1. Malt is a sugar that comes from sprouted grain.  Any grain will do--wheat, rye, barley, rice and even corn.  As the grain sprouts, it produces an enzyme that converts the starch to sugar.  If the grain is dried and ground at this point, the enzyme remains and more ground grain can be added.  The enzyme will reduce all the starch to sugar when mixed with water and then you can make beer.  Or you can filter out the sugar water and dry it to make the malt you can buy in the grocery store.  A couple spoonfuls of that in a shake makes it a malted.    


  2. Shake is just ice cream and milk.....malt is the same but it has malt powder in it.  Kinda like Whoppers.... "malted milk balls".. aha :)
