What is objectivism?

I really don't want like dictionary defintions, but what it means in your

words instead.

  1. Objectivism is a philosophy developed by Ayn Rand.  She believed that people should look at situations objectively (hence the name) and do what is best for that particular situation without person prejudices or religious beliefs interfering.  Just because a person was in the minority did not mean that his rights did not matter.  Rand was big on individual rights and responsibilities.  A person should be responsible for himself and not rely on the efforts of others to keep him happy.  Objectivism supports capitalism, and is one of the basis's for the platform of the Libertarian party.
