  1. It's Portuguese. If you go onto ellis island.org you can type in a last name and see what countries passengers with he last name were from. Amorin had people mostly from Portugal, but a couple from Cuba and Spain as well.

  3. Amorim is a Portuguese place name that described the man who originally lived in the province of Oporto or Aveiro, so called from the Latin word Amorini = villa (settlement) of Amorinus, which was a given name.

    Amorini is an Italian form of the name in a diminutive tradition. That, along witih Amor, Amore, Amour and others were derived from a medieval nickname Amor, from the Latin word for Love, which was a popular name in several countries and introduced into England by the Normans.
