  1. herunterladen

  2. download is download. Ok, "herunterladen" is sometimes said.

    Greetings from Hamburg, Germany

    Heinz

@Rick: not "unterladen" , thats wrong but for "herunter" "runter" is a very often used abbreviation  than "runterladen".

ps: oh I' ve forgotten old hacker slang, "etwas aus dem Netz saugen" = " suck something out of the net"

"hereinsaugen, reinsaugen" = "suck in(to the computer)"

  3. The word for "download" in German is "herunterladen"

  4. herunterladen-high german

    downloaden-slang

@pinata: unterladen is also acceptable as dialect in rhineland. ehrlich, denkst du dass die welt sich um hamburg dreht oder was?

  5. "runterladen" or "downloaden" are used by most native speakers.

"herunterladen" is the long version of the first, but I don't think it's used much.

There are different inflections for the second one, e.g. "Ich hab das gestern downgeloaded/gedownloaded." (I downloaded that yesterday). I think because of this problem with the inflection most people use "runterladen" when talking about the past.

"Ich werde das morgen downloaden" (I'm going to download that tomorrow) is perfectly acceptable.

  6. herunterladen or just unterladen, some people just use the English term...download

Thanks Heinz...German is my second language so I'm still learning the ins and outs of the language.

  7. "Herunterladen" means "download"

  8. most of us say "download" as well, but when not than "runterladen"

and not "herunterladen" i don't know anybody who says that!?
