Question:

What is school-appropriate clothing?

I go to a rural public school that does not require uniforms. I have a pair of dressy black high waisted shorts that almost come to my chest. They look classy, however since they come up so high they are pretty short -about fingertip length. I like to wear them with 3-inch black peep toe heels. Usually I'm not into the heels with short shorts look, but is this an exception/appropriate?

  1. Male attention is what you want , right ?   i myself would flirt you all day !

  2. I can't imagine someone prancing around a rural school--or even a big-city school--in high heels and short shorts.  This doesn't sound very appropriate.

Edit:  I'm female, and I think it's S****y, too.  I was just trying to say it in a diplomatic way.

  3. No I wouldn't wear it. I would wait a week and see what the other girls are wearing. If others are dressing up then i would, but you don't want to over dress :)

  4. Anything that's not trashy or where you're half-naked is appropriate or having your clothes so big they fall off your butt and sweep the floor, LOL.  I see it like this, if you dress like you belong on MTV or BET, then you aren't dressing right for school. If Britney, J.Lo or Janet would wear anything in your closet that you'd thinking of wearing to school, it's not the right choice, LOL! Hey, I love J. Lo and Janet but they have brought "hoochiness" to an entirely new level. And uh, no comments on Britney.

On the heels and shorts thing, I'm a woman and I hate to say it, but that's what most prostitutes stroll around in. Also it's just tacky. Heels and shorts? Also, why would you want to wear heels in school? I never understood why girls wore heels in school. That alone will make a teenage boy get the wrong impression.

I am sure you have great sense and know what's not approriate. Remember, you can look classy and attractive in school, but school is no place you need to worry about looking s**y. Focus on the books, not the clothes.

  5. I had this discussion with my daughter too. It is inappropriate for school. I understand that some kids want to make fashion statements or look like some celebrity, but, school should not be the place for that. Unless you want, unwarranted advances by guys (and girls maybe), gestures, and "labels" attached to you, keep the "s l u t dress" for other times. Dress casually and decently and you won't invite trouble. Good luck.

  6. I'm sure the males at your school would enjoy it...

  7. If your grandma approves of it, then suuure. I suggest something that won't make the guys stare :) After all, this is school. NOT a place to grab too much attention. Like some flipflops, sneakers. Tshirt and sweater. Just casual

  8. I wouldn't call fingertip-length too short, but you might not want to wear them with such high heels. The heels themselves might be pretty hard to get around in for the first couple days of school, and the outfit sounds like it could really send the wrong message to your classmates and teachers. If you haven't already, take a look at your school's dress code to see if it's appropriate.

  9. finger tip length is not too short. but modest is hottest! so be careful. you dont want to send the wrong message out by what you are wearing. (by the way, what you wear does send a message out, more specifically about who you are, but certain clothes make guys think certain things...so just b careful with that desisscion.)
