  1. what people say the first time is what they really meant.

    after they say jk

  2. where to begin. I have read several books about him, and most of his essays such as "Beyond the pleasure principle" and I simply find him a genius. These are his most famous theories:

    1. The Unconscious (in which most often manifest themselves in dreams, parapraxes and neurotic symptoms)

    2. Psychosexual Development (also a very important one, which includes the different stages of psychosexual development)

    3. The Oedipus Complex (one of the most fundamental theories and a most controvertial one)

    4. The Repetition Compulsion ( when a person repeats a series of hurtful events over and over again) (explains why)

    5. Anxiety (explains the cause of anxiety)

    6. The Defense Mechanisms (explains the 6 most common methods of defending ourselves from anxiety, guilt. etc)

these are his most popular theories. All of them equally fascinating, although I loved reading about the repetition compulsion.

    hoped i helped =]

  3. the fight in our mind between eros (creative) and tanatos (destructive). Its in us all!

  4. Freud is probably most famous for his theory of the unconscious. He was arguably the first thinker to apply deterministic principles systematically to the sphere of the mental, and to hold that the broad spectrum of human behaviour is explicable only in terms of the (usually hidden) mental processes or states which determine it.
