What is smarter?

what do you guys think is smarter? playing blackjack just for the side bet 'perfect pair" or playing normal black? now when i go to the casino i go in the mourning when the table limit is $5 and bet 5 on perfect pairs as well so basicly im paying 5 bucks to be able to bet on pairs i usualy can make it up to 400 this way but is this smart or am i just lucky? i used to play normal blackjack ignoring the side bets i could make about $100 profit. so once again the question is shoul i a) stick to the 5dollar min tables and bet the minimum for the table and $5 on perfect pairs or just stick with the 10-25 tables and never mind side bets(once in a blue moon) and play normal blackjack. my currernt bank roll is $400a month strickly for gambling purposes.

If it is wokring for you, then keep it up until it doesn't, then stop.

So far you are lucky with the perfect pair bets, since these bet carry a pretty high house edge. With an 8 deck shoe, if the payback table starts at 25 to 1 for the perfect pair, the house edge is 4.1%, if the payback is 30, the house edge is 3.4%. With fewer decks, say 6, the house edge goes way up, to 6.1% and 5.8% respectively.

Remember if the casinos offer you the bet, then you can be sure it is in their favor. And these "gimmick" bets always carry a pretty high house edge.

if you're winning consistently, you should stick to it. however, don't go overboard as the casino may ban you or change the rules.

Blackjack is a game with a house advantage, it works for the casinos and they make money.

when they add a side bet to a game that is already making money and has been for over 100 years, it is for the purpose of adding additional revenue to the table.

All optional side bets will have worse odds than the original game by itself, as i said, they were added to improve the profitability of a table, not to make it easier for players to win so playing only the original game is the best way to go ALWAYS.

Between the two options playing blackjack only is the best way to go, however it seems to me that you have mixed opinions about what is/isnt smart and what you actually do in the casino, my advice is to avoid side bets and keep your bets as small as possible, but do not forget that you are there to have fun, so if you feel the urge to place  a side bet, and you wnat to do it, go ahead.

You will not make ANY profit playing blackjack if you continue to play as you are, keep track of your wins and losses for every trip you make to the casinos, and you will see when you add them all together.
