What is the average LPNs salary?

what is the average salary for a LPN? I am currently attending a community college to become a LPN and the company who I'm currently working for as an Administrative Assistant is only offering $19,455 for LPNs. That's $3,000 less than I'm already making. Is it worth my time pursing a LPN degree and should I just skip that and go on to pursue an RN degree?

I don't know what area you live in, but I can say that hospitials are steering away from hiring LPNs, but nursing homes, Doctor's offices and rehab clinics will take a LPN in a heartbeat.  

You can get a job in a hospital but it will be conisderably less than you can make as a RN or at nursing home.   For instance in NC where I live LPN's can make about $13/hr at a hospital, $17-18/hr at nursing home as new graduates.  RN's can start around $19+.

In most areas LPN's take 3 semesters, RN's take 5 semesters of school.  Only you can decide which route to choose but if you start as a LPN you can work as a LPN making more money than your current job and then go to school for your RN.

RN's are one of the most in demand jobs in the country due to the nursing shortage. I would go for the RN degree over the LPN. Why take a pay cut?  When you enter any new field consider that it is not just about the 'salary.'  You should be earning to LEARN and build experience in your field. The more experience and knowledge you have, the more money you will make in the long run.
