  1. Astigmatism is when the eyeball is more oval shape than round.. I don't know what the axis refers to though, maybe check with your optometrist or just google it.


  2. The axis is just the degree ( angle) that the astigmatism correction has to be ground into your lenses at.

    It could be anywhere between 1 and 180 degrees.
