Why is it that some people...when u touch them...their belly fat is really hard...while some have soft fat...despite the fact that both individuals are overweight?

  1. An over simplified answer to this is actually the placement of the fat - "beer" belly's that are hard have fat under the muscle skin, muscle, fat,

"beer" belly's that are soft and mushy have fat between the skin and the muscle - skin, fat, muscle

  2. Subcutaneous fat = squishy because its just deep to the skin surface but superficial to the abdominal muscles

Inter peritoneal fat = hard because this fat surrounds organs but is deep to muscle

We generally see the former mostly in women and the later in men, but there is a huge variance.
