  1. My wife and I own land in the Mekong Delta, just below the 10th parallel. I can't describe the northern parts of the country, but our land is some of the most fertile farm land I have ever seen. The temperature is constantly balmy with lots of sunlight. We recieve incredible amounts of rain (usually at night although the summer is monsoon season). In addition, the land is criss-crossed with irrigation canals, streams and smaller rivers. These constantly refertilize the land with nutrients.

I will be returning to Vn in a few weeks to visit my family and have been working on a "vertical planting" system that will allow us to raise four or five crops at the same time.  We also use our irrigation system to raise, shrimp, fish, turtle and water fowl.

I almost forgot to mention, we keep about 40 bee hives on the property to supply us with honey and pollinate the crops.

Vietnam is certainly the greenest country I've ever been to !

  2. The primary agricultural areas are the Red River delta, the Mekong River delta, and the southern terrace region.Hope the link below may help. It's all I can get at the moment.

  5. Not sure about farming in general, but they have the most fisheries in the world!! I love seafood!

  6. it has many rivers and deltas

  7. The northern third (north of Thanh Hoa Province) has three natural  regions: the mountainous region, the midland hills and the Red River Delta. Farming is done mostly in the Delta but there also some in the hills. The climate is sub-tropical that produces two harvesting seasons: one in the summer and another in the fall.

The central region (from Thanh Hoa to Phan Thiet) is mostly mountainous with only a long and narrow strip of land along the shore. Fertile agricultural lands are few and far between. The central highland (called the Western Plateau or Tay Nguyen)  in Vietnam is cool year-round and can have great potentials for truck farming ( growing vegetables and flowers).

The South  has the great Mekong Delta region which is truly the breadbasket (or rice-bowl, if you prefer) of the entire nation. Extremely fertile and well irrigated, together with a tropical climate, anything would grow there and harvest season is year-round!

Knowing the make-up of the land, now you can figure out there's no way in h**l the Vietnamese are going to let any foreign power control the southern region of their country, be it France or the US.
