  1. Identify.........know where and what you are doing while driving.

Predict........know what could happen and never assume.

Decide........know what you are going to do before you either get there or before.

Act...............know what to do and how to either handle the situation or avoid it.

  2. I learned the S.I.P.D.E. (like logic states above) way when I went to truck driving school..and have a simulator class every year to make sure we keep up to date with it..I use it everyday when I am driving..whether it is my little car or my big truck...you can always scan ahead, identify all hazards or obstructions, predict what could happen, decide what you would do if it did happen, and execute your decision if it did happen..

An example: you are driving down the road and

S - see a kid on side of road,

I - see a kid on side of road with a ball, ice cream truck stopped ahead

P- kid's ball rolled into road, kid ran onto road after ball, kids on road getting ice cream

D - you will slow down, break, watch all kids

E- do the above you predicted.

  3. I call this S.I.P.D.E.

You use it everyday in all the decisions you make about everything you do.............

S - Scan, see what is happening around you...

I   - Identify any situations,  hazards and obstructions which

          might involve you

P - Predict what might happen in that situation.....

D - Decide what to do.....

    E - Execute that decision

I would say that I use that in making my everyday decisions, whether it's driving or going somewhere, wouldn't you agree?
