What is the study of Physiology?

If i want to be a microbiolgist should i study this in university?

Physiology is the study of the mechanical, physical, and biochemical functions of living organisms.

If you want to be a microbiologist you will have to take this at some point in time at the university, but your major should probably be biology.  A minor in physiology would probably be good too :-)
