What is the vehicle registration number?

I am working on my college applications, and it asks for the vehicle registration number. Is this the vin number or your tag number? Does anybody know? Thanks!

Yes, it is the vin number on your dash.

When you go to the DMV and give them the VIN...they give you a different number known as the VEHICLE REGISTRATION #. They are both different. Check your car registration and title to make sure which number you need!

in the uk its the number plate ie what it says on the front and rear of the car vin is vehicle identification no its so they know the reg of the car you will be parking at the collage premises

NO, these other people are wrong!!!

The registration number is your license plate number.   Ask any police officer.  Your vin is called the vin # and nothing else.

Unless they ask for the tag number elsewhere, I would say they want that rather than the VIN.
