What is this doctor slang?

if a doctor said tha i have a "terminal illness"...what the h**l does that mean, he said I have "a diagnosis without a prognosis?" can somebody tell me what this means...? I know i have something a terrible illness cause ive had a bad cold for a while but...hmmm

That's a most irresponsible way for a doctor to behave. He can't just hand you a sentence of death without explaining. So get a second opinion soon. And may you live a long and healthy life. Colds don't kill...

it means you'll die from it soon and its not cureable. like major cancer

if the dr is telling you have a terminal illness then it is something you will die from like cancer or AIDS I don't got the diagnosis without the prognosis thing as there is always a prognosis--either you get better or you die that is the prognosis part

Your doctor really should have told you more because "terminal illness" is quite a bomb to land on a person.. Does he not know what the illness is? Obviously it is not just a cold because people cannot die from colds. But he might not know what it is yet, doctors dont know everything.

Get a second opinion quickly!!

terminal illness means an illness that will end your life. Prognosis is the treatment plan to fix the problem. Diagnosis is what they have determined the problem too be. Sorry

Your doctor should have explained it to you better. Don't be afraid to ask questions. If you don't feel comfortable with this doc get a second opinion, and also a dr you feel at ease with. I am sorry but terminal means it is a life ending disease, and you really need a dr that will also be there for you.
