There's this strange flower I'm trying to find out what it is. It's... fuzzy. Furry. The stem, leaves, flower, the entire thing is fuzzy. Exactly like animal fur! The leaves resemble little rabbit ears and the flower is cone shaped with purple sprouts..... it's weirding me out. What is it? Is it poisonous? This thing can't be normal!

  1. This is for sure lambs ear, I've got it in several of my flower beds.  Again it will spread fairly quickly and easily, so prepare to dig it up and give some away in a few years.  I love this plant, it's a nice contrast to plant below rose bushes.  The bees absolutely love this plant also.    Great addition to any flower garden in my opinion.

  2. Possibly Stachys byzantina, also known as Lamb's Ear...

It's my daughter's favorite plant in her garden!

  3. Stachys sometimes have purple flowers, mine has yellow. Not poisonous.

  4. Lambs Ear, it spreads quite a bit, so if you want to contain it to one spot, trim every 6 months or so.
