I am 30 weeks along, and sometimes when I go to cross my legs or pull my legs up on to the couch I hear a little pop or snap come from my stomach! Am I imagining things?? Does anyone know what that noise could be?

  1. Sorry I have no idea what that could be. Maybe your stomach is upset? Sometime I hear like water sounds in my stomach, I assume it's just the baby playing around. :) Good luck with everything!

  2. You're not imagining things!

I get this too, and looked it up online to discover that it's not a really common thing, but it's the baby cracking it's legs/ankles/knees inside. It's not a bad thing, and they're not being hurt! It sounds loud due to the fluid around the baby and I find it sometimes startles mine when it happens - I end up just rubbing my stomach and saying "Awww, poor thing" haha

My family has lots of cracking joints, I get it when I wake up and go to wander down the hall and it seems that now that my baby is running out of room in there, it tends to do it. For me it started around the same time as you (30 weeks) and still does it every other day or so now that I'm at 39 weeks.

You can mention it to your doctor, so that he/she can say they've heard of it before if someone else asks, as I did with my doctor. I did searches online and found that it does happen with a number of women, none have found that it was something bad, it's just a funny thing for us to talk about.

I've also responded to a few other women on here asking the same thing - we're not alone! So don't worry that it's something bad, and you're not going crazy just yet :)
