ultraviolet is an the magnetic spectrum and has a smaller wavelength than visible light. aUltraviolet radiation is emitted from the sun, and can cause skin cancer. Ultraviolet light is used in sun beds and emits ultraviolet radiation.

UV, in small doses, causes skin to tan. I large doses it can cause slin cancer. UV is used to kill organisms in drinking water. UV makes some paints glow in the dark. Too much UV can cause cateracts.

There are two types of UV, long wave and short wave. The short wave UV is generally considered to be the dangerous version.
