  1. windy

  2. Directly west of the Loop is really nice up to about Damen where the United Center is at, then it goes quickly downhill and is one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the city until you get to Oak Park which is nice again.  But less than a mile west of Damen...that's one of the worst areas in the city.

    The Southwest side is okay...

I mean the immediate Southwest side is sort of up and coming like McKinley Park.  If you followed Archer southwest the neighborhoods get sort of bad but not like Southside bad where you don't want to get out of your car or ride the bus through them.  Then things start to get nice again once  you hit Pulaski in the Archer Heights then Garfield Ridge neighborhoods up to Midway Airport.

I'm not as good with the Northwest side...

but I know it sort of follows the same pattern along Milwaukee all the way to O'Hare.  If you follow the Blue Line everything from Western to Addison is kind of iffy, but otherwise its fine and especially kind of nice near Jefferson Park.

  3. It's like the east side of chicago, but it's just west of it. LOL

  4. Moving Tomm?? Are you saying you're moving tomorrow? I hope not, because this would be research that needed to be done a long time ago...

Anyway - can you specify where west you're moving?

My first assumption is that you're talking about "the west side" which is going straight west from downtown. I don't know that much about the area but I've been over there once or twice before to like the Austin Neighborhood and the "K's".

It's not very nice over there. Probably one of the worst areas in the city. I've noticed that many people that live on the west side don't seem to venture outside of that area very much. Like when I go downtown, I rarely meet anyone from the west side. Mostly just the north side and the south side. It's like they're stuck on the west side or something - kinda strange.

When I was there honestly the people acted strange - like uneducated - (not to say that everyone over there is that way because I have met some people from the west side that were very nice). But a lot of people I've met from the west side act very ghetto, loud, and like they're trying to show off - but often end up making themselves look stupid instead.  The last time I was on the west side a guy was at the bank and the banker asked him for his social security number and he got upset and started screaming and yelling saying he didn't know his number - and he was like 30 - you should know it by that age....

Also, to the person that said south west isn't as bad as the south side - that's a very general statement. There are some very nice neighborhoods on the south side like Hyde Park, the South Loop, Bronzeville, Pill Hill, Beverly, Evergreen Park, etc. There are also some terrible neighborhoods like Englewood, which is southwest.
