  1. Middle Relief pitching is a problem.    Burrell is streaky and Ryno isn't having his best year.   Don't blame Charlie Manuel.   And no matter what, don't believe a thing that Howard Eskine says.

  2. You're basing your opinion on one game, obviously. The Phillies give their pitchers plenty of run support. Their offense is 2nd in the NL with 4.94 runs per game. Their pitching is weaker than their offense, particularly the starting rotation. Phillies starters have a combined record of 32-33.

  3. well the way i look at worst comes to worst they still win the wild-card and probably give it a h**l of a run in the playoffs.  they'll snap out it just look at their lineup i'd arguably the best lineup in all of baseball

  4. Confidence. This is the first time in a long time that they are no longer in first place and the psychological factor is the most significant here I think.

  5. i know, tonights game is soo painful, i can't even watch.  something just isn't clicking, nothing is working right now and i think the Phils need a wakeup call or to hit rock bottom or something. I don't know, they dont' need to trade because when they aren't slumping, their offense is one of the most dominant.  I just don't know what to say about them now, they are just not producing runs like they can.  I know they can produce runs when they aren't in this slump, but this slump is not pretty to watch at all.

  6. nothing just that my mets are better

  7. Everything is wrong that's why the A's gave you Joe Blanton, to help you out!!!

  8. so is every other baseball team

  9. You see heres their problem: they suck. Mets are more talented and will win the NL EAST.

  10. they have absolutely no pitching, the reason why i said they wouldnt make the playoffs the entire season

  11. It just seems like the team lost and doesn't know what to do anymore...I still keep saying they need to fire Charlie Manuel he's whats holding this team back from being a team that can win 100 games and get to the World Series look what happened when the Mets dumped Randolph he's what was holding them back from being good...The Phils management is prolly one the cheapest and dumbest in baseball.

  12. The Phillies are just in a little funk offensively speaking. Don't expect them to win the division because their pitching staff is not a good one. If they do happen to sneak in, don't espect them in the NLCS unless they go out a make a trade for a pitcher. Joe Blanton is not going to do anything for them. He was having a bad year with Oakland and I'm glad to see him gone.

  13. Phillies offense are so overrated when you look at the stats. They blow teams out by 10 plus runs and score 10 plus runs in games this season. But on the other hand they get a lot of games where they score 3 runs or less.

They main problem with the Phillies is Charlie Manuel. He makes to many dumb movies. Like tonight, when he put in Lidge when they are losing the game. He should only use him when they are suppose to.  He did other movies this year that cost them games.

Also he should tell the batters at the plate to take more pitches. They seem to swing at the first pitch allot and pop out allot. They need to take more walks and let picthers throw more pitches.

  14. They have the 2nd best offense in the league...right behind the suprising Texas Randers and they have the best bullpen in the league and re-juvenated B.Lidge...but 1 problem their starting pitching rotation is horrible! only reliable starter is C.Hamels ! B.Myers....having a down year going back to the minors ! Moyer is old piece of thrash so washed up...K.Kendrick is a 1-year wonder even though hes still a young kid and J.Blanton is having a down year. Yup and having a 4-9 record against the mets isnt going to help anything. They shouldve got C.C and they wouldve been good.

  15. they arent hitting, they need to make a big trade, no actually they HAVE to

  16. What's wrong with them is simple: They're not that good.

Everyone was impressed with their comeback to win the division last year, but that had more to do with the Mets horrid play than it did with the Philles being good.

They finished last year with 89 wins, for a .549 winning percentage, which are not good numbers for a division winner.  That's why they got swept in the first round of the playoffs.  This year, they're playing at a .529 (about to be .524) winning percentage.  Not a significant dropoff from last year.  They're simply getting passed by a team that's playing better.

It simply reflects the fact that their starting pitchers are below-average, and their hitters have padded numbers from playing in a tiny ballpark for 81 games a year.
