Question:

What is wrong with my Parakeet?

I have two parakeets. A male and a female. The female is so aggressive to the male. She bosses him around and really doesn't let him do anything. If he is on the swing, she wants him off so she can get on the swing. If he is eating seed, she wants him to quit so she can eat, she wants him to sit in one place all day and not move. When I moved him to his own cage she cried like crazy!! What is wrong with her?

  1. sounds like he has love isiuse lol

well if they are untrained you cant do anything to stop it

but i can say that moving them was a good try but parakeets are social birds and can die without some one by there side

the girl prolly thinks that "oh well hes rapped around my finger so i can have him do what a want"

my guess is if hes losing wait feed them seperate

if its ok leave them be

  2. shes the dominant bird , don't seperate them...leave them together for a while if he gets injured seperate them , if you are truly concerned go see a vet

  3. she might be a bit jealous of him.or maybe he did somrthing to make her mad!

  4. The female is the dominant bird,She'll try and be better than him whenever she can.But I'm not completely sure.

  5. The answer is:

    Nothing is wrong.

This is natural. Is your female older than the male? If it is, bullying will occur. You should try to seperate them until the male gets into mating season and place their cages close. If you see that they are getting well, put them back together to see if its ok.

  6. I had that problem too. The females are really a pain the back side. She would always fight the male one. I got so sick and tired I let them both free. My friend is having the same problem too.

I suggest you get rid of the female.

  7. i have two females and one male. for a while the females that he adores now and feeds all the time, used to be so nasty to him. she even made his wings bleed at one point. we seperated him to recover while the other two were still bff, and then we seperated the really agressive one for a while. but now the two that fought are now lovers. seriously its confusing but it works, except now the male seems to be the most dominate and wont let his woman eat because HE wants to feed her! he isnt that nice to the other female though, but nothing violent.
