Is a lovely country with lots of places to go and very friendly people.

You will find very good hotels and excellent food.

Peru is a country of unsurpassed natural beauty and great historical interest.  In Peru we find the most biodiverse region of the Amazon, the world's driest desert (Atacama), the second highest mountain range on Earth, spectacular rivers, scenic ocean coastline, archaeological wonders, etc.

Peru has had many political ups and downs.  Currently Peru has a bad president, Alan Garcia, who just recently sold leases for all of the country's Amazon region to (mostly) foreign oil companies, seizing land from national parks, local governments and indigenous people, claiming that mineral rights are owned exclusively by the national government and are a matter of national security.  Oil companies operating in the Amazon region of Peru have a horrific record of human rights abuses and ecological abuses.  The people in the local Amazonian provinces have tried to protest, but the government has been sending hundreds of national policemen to keep order.  It's a shame.

DURING COLONIZATION PERU WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT REGION OF SOUTH AMERICA, NOW IT'S NOT SO IMPORTANT BUT STILL YOU HAVE THE ANDES, CUSCO, AREQUIPA, MACCHU PICHU, LIMA IS A VERY INTERESTING CITY TOO, IT'S A MULTIRRACIAL PEOPLE, AND I THINK THE HISTORY OF SOUTH AMERICA PASSES THROUGH PERU.

I was born here, I live here and I will probably die here. It's a great country, with a very rich cultural history and with the greatest food and dishes I've ever tasted. Am I biased? Of course, I'm peruvian and proud to be a peruvian. I've travelled a lot (Asia, Europe, Africa and America) and I love to visit other places but I always return here because it's home to me. We do have our share of problems (economic, political, etc) but peruvians never give up, we are optimist fighters. We have 3 beautiful regions with lots of flora and fauna and in a few hours we could have one of the 7 new wonders of the world: Machu Picchu.

Went there in January. It is one of the most beautiful countries on Earth, yet most of it is terribly impoverished. What amazes me is how friendly the people there are (other than the beggars, which there are many of...) despite the economic situation. Machu Picchu is probably the most incredible place on our planet. If you go to Peru, make sure to go there. I am only speaking from my experiences in Cuzco, Urubamba, Pisac, and Aguas Calientes, but I have heard the rest of the country is great too.

Personally speaking I absolutely LOVE PERU!!!! The people, the culture, the history and everything else about it. Yes I know it has its problems but then so does every other country in the world, I've been there many times and I never get tired of it.
