  1. I use to have my own business doing upholstery.  I,ve done a lot of stuff for a lot of people. everyone likes different things. from my 15 plus years in redoing furniture, this is what i suggest.  test..... sit,  try them on .  lots of them.  do you like them soft, firm,  in between.  trim and tidy or overstuffed, or in between.  there are a lot of people out there that will try to sell you anything..  exspensive is not always the best.  from the point of view of someone that depended on repeat business, people talk about there likes and dislikes.  i wont talk about the ones i have heard the most bad comments about.   the one brand i have had the most possitive remarks to is lazy boy. they have a lot of styles. good quality, and a very good gaurentee. i have 10 to 15 year old chairs come to me because the people loved them. they stayed strong,,and the mecanizem used to have a life time gaurentee. every one does not like them, but,, the ones that do...love them. they keep them. they don,t get tired if them after 2 or 3 years. you can always have the chair updated as needed or wanted.  when you are out and about , look tnd try them on.. dont rush because you will not end up with one you will love. this is a chair that will get a lot of use. get what you like.   good luck.

  2. The all american LAZY boy is a rock solid choice... believe it or not the modern LB can be quiet stylish and functional.

  3. One that fits you.  Try lots of them before you buy.

  4. A good recliner would have to be a European design.  Simple lines, less parts, no cup holders, or remote storage.

Not only do they look better, but they are built better.  The simple fact is with more "mechanism" the more chances you have of something breaking down.
