What makes a mouse stop working?

my mouse has stopped working and I have bought a replacement but still nothing works

Might be that the USB port is not working?

Virus infection?

The mouse is (again) not working a.k.a faulty?

i have this problem quite often...i fink its all bkoz of the USB ...koz when i unplug my USB and plug it again the mouse starts working normally...

your mouse is PS/2 or USB?

if ps/2 the check if your not pluging in your keyboard area if you keyboard is usb. or im sorry your mouse port died out

I had this problem, I changed the connection from the port it was in at the computer, it was originally on a round pin connector on the front, I used an adapter to fit it into a spare USB port  at the back, then all was OK.

                                 After a couple of weeks I wanted to work out why my original coupling didn't work.

                                   Whatever happened , it sorted it's self out and now working again.

                                       Try it, only a 2 minute job.
