What makes eyes involuntarily twitch?

I've had a twitch in my eye for the past few days and it hasn't gone away yet. What's causing this? I've had eye twitches before, but never for more than a day.

If it is your eyelid that is twitching, this is caused by either stress, caffeine, or fatigue, or a combination of two or three of those.

Stress, anxiety, or overly tired.  I have had one in my eye all day & its driving me crazy!  I feel your pain..
