What makes someone a poser?

I'm not really into labels, but supposedly im classified as emo. I just try to be me, but i guess i fit into that category. But im confused as to what makes someone a poser? I don't get it. Any help?

A poser is someone who tries to be classified as something they're not,they are posing as a label like emo or goth.They try to be emo,goth,preppy,but they have no clue what it really is and they *magically* become art of that clique or group because that's what's in.you're not a poser cause you say you try to be who you are.i know this girl at school and in 6th grade she was all hard core mexican,she was all VivA La rAzA!VivA MeXico and hated rock music and screamo,but 8th grade she *magically* became emo and she wore glasses that were poser glasses,and she couldn't even name 1 emo or rock song.she was a poser cause she thought putting on a pair of skinny jeans and eyeliner made her emo

in your case, an emo poser is one that may dress like emo, but they have no clue about what emos dig in terms of music
