Question:

What makes your accelorator stop working?

I sort of asked this question already but that was before I knew the anti-theft probably wasn't what caused it.

Anyway, I was backing out on a hill a couple weeks ago and my accelorator (spelling) stopped working. I had to shut the car off and turn it back on to get it going again. I don't want it to happen again because I live on a hill and my car started rolling back. It's dangerous and there's a lot of parked cars around.

It hasn't happend again since. But what could have caused it to happen?

  1. If your car is running a little bit rough (out of tune), it will occasionally shut off when idling (it sounds like you were backing up downhill, so you were idling).

Get a tune-up if you haven't had one for a while.
