  1. I was naturally a fairly good runner since I was in first grade.  I was always rather competitive.  I always pushed myself. I just wanted to be the best and the fastest.  No matter how far fetched it seemed, I just kept pushing myself.  By 6th grade, I was the fastest girl in the 600yd dash.  My 400m PR from 6th grade was 2 seconds slower than one of the fastest girls mid-distance runners &triple jump record holder's on the high-school team.  And she was a senior.

Now, I stay because if I don't, the coaches will hunt me down. ahah

  2. I never found something that I was good at...

Running just came to me.  It's a sport where you don't have to pay attention to the other members of your team, (For cross country, that is)

When I run, it's like I can get away from all of the competion of other sports, and that's how I became interested in it and good at it.

  3. the fact that my calves would look hunky :P

  4. just coz its tv coz i want my body tooned

  5. my mom (i used to run away from her)

  6. i kind of started without motivation, my friend got me to join with her. i then realized how fun it was and got addicted to the respect i got while running.

    MY MOTIVATIONS:

    1. respect

    2. Ana Guevara (to get better)

    3. all the benefits (health, body)

    4. athlete scholarship

  7. my brother, i went to one of his track meets and ever since then.. haven't been able to stop :)

  8. My wife, marathon runner.

  9. Realizing I was not that bad of a runner and could improve...and just wanting to get out there and do what I love to do: RUN.

    "Run Easy is an Oxymoron"

  10. Another sport. I only run because its good for the wind endurance I need for XC skiing.

  11. My uncle. He is also my godfather!!

he inspired me!!I want to be a runner just like him!:)

  12. I wanted to join some school sports athletic teams, and I am NOT a sports kind of girl. I'm a competitive dancer and gymnast, but I have the body of an athlete. Tall and slim. I decided since cross country was a walk-on team, and so was track... I'd do those. Cross Country was a fall sport, and I did that! I had so much fun; our team was one big family! Now, it's the spring season for school athletics and track started a few weeks ago. I'm loving it but it is a lot of work! Running is a great way to stay in shape and I hope that running as a teenager will reflect into me running when I'm an adult ;)

  13. Well, I've always been faster than everyone-the guys, the girls....everyone.

At school, we do 1/3 mile runs every day, and I always get first in them. I wanted to improve my time so I could beat the boys when we did mile runs!

    So far, it's working...

  14. For my cross country running, grade 4, school announcement, I started it loving it, from the first practice!

For track, watching videos on youtube of Micheal Johnson really inspired me to start it.

  15. The hope of a nice six-pack, and to keep me fit and healthy. Although I ran into a thorn bush the other night and it ripped the top of my lip and other various areas and I haven't ran since!

  16. I had been hearing a lot of news about this runner, Ana Guevara, who had been getting a lot of first places in track championships around the world.

In the summer of 2004, (when I was leaving elementary school) I sat down and watched the womens open 400meter dash in the Olympics. I saw Ana Guevara get a second place. That day, i decided I wanted to run. That seven months after that, I joined my middle school's track and field team.

Besides, I really like running. I love it. It's almost like an addiction.

I have kept running since that year. Sometimes the going gets tough, I've gotten stress fractures and stuff. But every time, I remember how much I like running and I keep going.

  17. My job is having a get fit competition so I figured jogging/running would be a good way to hopefully shed a few pounds.

  18. I really felt like I wasn't good at anything. I mean yeah, I was smart and I got straight A's, but I wasn't good at a sport. I just wanted to prove to myself that I was good at something. It was the first year our school had a cross country program and I decided I would go for it. It was the best decision I have every made. I love running now and my coach is unbelievable. I feel like I have found it easier to socialize and make friends since I was on the cross country team. Then, I tried track and I was hooked to that too. It just gives me a sense of satisfaction. I love running. It makes me feel free and it makes all of my problems disappear.
