  1. yeah... you may be best suited for mascot

  2. I'd say, with your size, you're probably too big for a slot in the back so you should definitely go in with the forwards.  American university props are usually in the upper 200's so I'd say front line is also out.  You're probably too short to be a lock so that pretty much leaves 6,7, or 8.  8 is a sort of skilled position that you could probably learn in time so I, personally, would suggest 6 or 7, one of the flanker positions.  If you're a skilled runner you should opt for the open side but if you're defense minded the blind side is probably your area.

  3. If you like to tough it a lot and not scared off continuos physical work the forward pack is great for this. If you do not like continuely tackling like forwards do the back line is much suited. Backs tend to be quite quick as they use more space to move in. But in saying this the flakers and No 8 also run alot as they are normally first to break downs and first to when ball goes to ground. Ive played both forwards and backs and love the forward work load more as forwards get the ball a lot and do a lot more tackling. Try lock or flanking positions. Good luck.

  4. I'm gonna say Lock or possibly loose forward.

If you like to be up front taking the hard hits then lock.

If you are fairly fast and also strong then flanker/loose forward is a great position for you.  Both are quite physically tough, but i must admit loose forward would involve more tackling.

  5. Mostly heavy people play for Prop or Lock so If you are Little and slow it's PROP definatly. Well I think you've gotta be strong for it. If Tall you would be able to play for lock and catch the ball. But I think you've got to be strong aswell. If you're neither of them I think you'll still be a forward.

  6. I would definitely say that you are a prop. At that size you would give the opposition prop a real hard time, and if its mostly muscle you would make him look stupid, if its not you still would. With speed and ball skills as a prop you would definitely make a big impression as a ball carrier.

The propping would be like an offensive linesman and the running sort of like a running back. Every position is similar to a footballs tackle.

Let the coach decide though, and learn your scrumming technique

  7. With that kind of weight you need to throw yourself into the tight 5 of the scrum, you're too short to play second row but you're perfect to play as a prop.

As a prop you have three primary duties; scrummage, scrummage, scrummage. (this involves supporting the hooker, allowing a channel for the hooker to 'hook' the ball back and driving your opposite prop back).

Your secondary duties are things like lifting the second row in the lineouts, tackling, rucking and mauling.

As to your football skills, well they're completely different to what you need for Rugby, forget throwing it forward because your not allowed to do that in Rugby, also with tackling you aren't allowed to tackle above shoulder height. Also you will need to get to a whole new level of fitness to sustain your efforts for the full 80 minutes because you have to join in with offence and defence in Rugby.

So in all you sound like a prop to me.

  8. someone that big and can run... flanker or number 8 no question. you get to do everything.. tackling and ball handling and killing people in the ruck. if you like to be physical and hit people alot, but still want to carry the ball, choose one of these positions. my coach thinks its the best position because of a good blend of things to do, not the same thing over and over. lots of hitting. who doesnt like to hit?

  9. PIGGY PIGGY PIGGY

  10. my brother is the same height as you and he's a prop.

    you should be a forward.

if your very good at running and have good skills with a ball then you could be a back

  11. With that sort of weight, you should be anywhere in forward. Good handling skills, then Flankers or No 8, although not tall enough for No 8 as they are like third lock. Decent running will much more suit Openside rather than Blindside, but it is up to you to decide cuz Openside does a lot more running than Blindside. If good at tackling, recommend Blindside Flanker. But still don't think that you are tall enough for Loose Fowards. Not tall enough for lock either. So I recommend Front Row. Good at American Football foward pass, then Hooker as you will need to throw it in the line-out. If good at scrummaging, Props. I trust that your fitness level is up to scratch so have fun playing rugby and most importantly choose the position you like the best.
