What rod for what job?!?

Question

im new to fishing, and i really dont have a clue!.. i want to fish in rivers for trout, and maybe fish at the sea shore - but dont know what rod to use..

i would need a rod from argos, and not too expensive either, maybe less than £30..

Firstly you need to decide if you want to fly fish for trout or fish for them with bait/lures and spinning reel, for the shore you will need a heavier rod, since most of the saltwater fishing in the UK, is done with big baits, i suggest going to your local tackle shop and asking they will get you sorted with all the right gear, they also will tell you where to fish and where to buy a license, fly fishing is your best bet for catching trout in rivers, but you could buy a simple spinning rod and a small spinning reel and use a spinner like a mepps to catch trout, i suggest you start with saltwater fishing, that way you will learn the basics and not need a license in the UK, also almost all of the coast is fish-able and you should meet plenty of people willing to help you out, make sure you buy a fixed spool reel to start with as its easier to cast with when you're starting out.

Also check out adverts for local angling clubs they will help you out, try reading the Sea Angler magazine, any more problems ask them on here, i did live in the UK, some time ago and owned a tackle shop there so i have some knowledge of the fishing there, i also am still in contact with people who fish there, in both fresh and saltwater.

berkley rod and reels are some of the best and cost around 25-35$. and they are super sensitive and are light and easy to carry and cast far.
