Say What ?

You say dingo

I say dog

You say toad

I say frog

You say beer

I say grog

You say marsh

I say bog

And so it goes

Who really knows

What’s right

We write

You decide

We hide

Behind the word

Absurd

I’m just asking

Or am I masking

The true meaning

Are you gleaning

Just words

I had this discussion just last night. This is true!! The question (on the telephone) was: "Can a poet's true personality be gleaned from his/her poetry?" Also, "can a poet really mask feelings behind poetry, or does a careful reader discover the real person?"

Now you see how I spent the first night of the Summer Olympics!
