There are (4) seasons in some places in the world.  The usual season that precedes Summer is Spring, which is then followed by Fall (or Autumn) and then Winter.  I however, grew up in Hawaii, and we do not have seasons like that.  There are times when it is rainer than other times, but generally, there is no complete cycle of seasons.

The seasons in the Northern Hemisphere are absolutely reverse to those in the Southern Hemisphere.  I now live 6 months in the USA, and 6 months in Australia.  I do not like to be extremely hot, so I spend my hot summer days in the USA not in Australia which is during the Winter months here in the North. In other words, I usually do not spend Christmas in Australia, because that is one of the hottest months. I much prefer to be there when it is cooler.  Anyway, I hope I answered your question.
