As I get ready for the day (of my trip) I pack everything as I use it.  After I get out of the shower, I pack my shampoo, toothbrush, paste, soap, razor, etc.  As I get my hair done, I pack up my blow dryer, and straightener, gel, hairspray, brush.  When I'm done with my make up, that gets packed, as well as deodorant and q-tips.  I always pack 1 extra pair of panties and socks.  (Even if I don't think i'll need them).  I plan out the clothes I'll wear and pack those by what i'll wear each day.  Don't forget shoes and beach towels and sunscreen.

Watch,  I would leave the good jewelry at home, you don't want to risk losing anything that you really care about.

Think about what you use on normal day and then write that down and that's what you have to pack, as you pack it, cross it off the list.

Also, for things like your toothpaste, put them in  a ziplock bag, cap first and then wrap the remainder of the bag around the tube and use a rubber band to close it.  This way if it opens, it doesn't mess up your clothes or anything in your suitcase.  The same for perfume and things, put them in a ziplock bag and seal them so if they open, they don't ruin anything in your suitcase, they only open in the bag.

You may want to take one or two plastic grocery bags to bring home your dirty underwear and wet bathing suit unless you already have a spot for that in your suitcase.
