took a load to the county landfill and you saw a very large metal case, just the right size to fit on a trailer that you have. You notice that someone has pried the back open at the top, otherwise it is in great shape.. You know that you can weld it and make it good again. You take it home and cut a slice into the back and find a hidden compartment with 2 guns (Rugers) and tons of ammo? This is what happened to my husband yesterday.

  1. Don't touch the guns and call the police.

  2. If it happened to me, I'd go to the shooting range.

Actually, call the cops. Most landfills forbid salvaging, but the cops probably won't care. There's a fair chance that those guns had been used in a crime which would be why they were thrown away inside of a sealed metal crate, so the cops would want to know about it.

  3. I would immediately call the police.

  4. I would take it back to the landfill and dump it. It's garbage that I wouldn't want to be associated with so get rid of it.

  5. It is a matter of conscience. If you took the tank legally, then the contents are your personal property. The problem is, these weapons could be stolen property, used in a crime, or any number of things that you don't want to have associated with you. I suppose the right thing to do would be to inform the police and file for rightful ownership if no one claims the guns, or they are not a part of illegal activity.

  6. First, I'd let the landfill know I was taking it.

If I found that stuff, I'd hand everything over to the police.

  7. Well I would say keep them, but you don't know the nature of where they were and how they were used before they got there.  I am assuming that someone just forgot they were in there, but you just never know.
