What the heck is this?

Buddy took his new Ford diesel pickup in for warranty repair. The dealer said that the repair (head gaskets) would be a cab off repair. Do they actually mean to remove the cab to replace a couple of head gaskets? That seems a trifle extreme; doesn't it?

That's how it is, any major engine work is cab off on them Fords. Wait till it's out of warranty and people have to pay for it, that's when it'll really be a trifle extreme. There are many repairs anymore that are getting this way.

They might mean that they would have to remove the engine from the truck to preform the service. I could see that because if the engine was set back in the engine compartment enough that they couldn't get the heads off then yes this is reasonable. I would get a second opinion though because the dealers have no trouble taking extra money from you for no reason.

yeah that does sound a little weird because from my understanding, the cab is in the back.
