What to buy a trainee electrician?

My brother has just strated a 4 year course to become an electrician, and i want to buy him a tool box and also the things he needs but i want it to be a surprise for him. So what are the basics and any other things i would need to get? Moneys no object when it come to my brother. Also any sites where i can just order online and have it delivered directly to my brother. Thanks

When you go to get tools for your brother take him with you. Tell him it's a surprise and take him to a tool store. He knows what he needs and don't need.

a screwdriver, a roll of tape !!

Screwdrivers and plyers.  A good calcularor.  A chaser and a drill, is a good start.

He will need the basics,to start with.

Screwdriver set, all insulated.

Side cutters,pliers, wire stripper,long nose pliers.

Two sizes of adjustable spanners-0-15mm/0-25mm.

A good quality multimeter.

Tape measure,calculator.

2 cordless drills-one for s***w driving,one for drilling-with hammer action.-good quality. Plus drills and screwdriver bits.

16oz hammer.

Stanley knife

This will get him started,then there are all the various electrical components,which he will acquire over time.

And a whole raft of specialised equipment he will need as he becomes more knowledgeable.

Don't forget,pen,pencil and paper.

a multimeter plus a selcetion of electrical tools - wire cutters, testers, etc. I sure there some kits out there, but

and as toungue in cheek has mentioned, try Screwfix.

I could come up with 1001 suggestions.

For me a gift card of x*x amount and go shopping with him.You get to see his reactions a lot longer,a more lasting image.
