What to do about scooters?

i am 15 and i want to get a scooter so i can get around places my parents want me to just get a 49cc but i want to get a 150cc even though its not legal i think that as long as i am safe and going the speed limit and wearing a helmet i wont get pulled over. i think the 49cc would just be to slow. price of the scooters is not the issue so what should i do??

Well normally when there is a cc limit there is also a MPH limit and 50's are  usually about 30 to 35. Why not obey the law and stick with a 50 as 50 might be to fast for you. If you decide to go with a 150 I can only hope you get pulled over.

I have seen some web sites that sell a 50cc with a turbo.  That might be the answer.

If your parents are set against a 150cc bike, and are willing to get you a 49cc bike-AND-get you a moped license, then get a real good moped(Honda, Yamaha, or Vespa) and de-restrict the bike. Don't get any of those low buck Chinese bikes. They brake down and there aren't any parts available for them here in the states.

In most states you can get a Moped license at 15 years old, and if you are going this far anyway, see if the MSF folks have a scooter school in your area.

You and your parents are not thinking straight.  You need a license to drive one of these. So, I hope you do get pulled over if you ride one on the street.  You get the ticket, and your idiot parents get to pay it.  But, 49 cc is too damned small either way.

It does not have enough power to get out of it's own way, let alone the way of a semi truck!

Look kid (and idiot parents too.) I lost a son to a small motor cycle. He was a passenger. Stupid kid driver, stupid drunk in the other vehicle. He did nothing wrong and is gone to me now.  I say wait till you can drive a car for real and legally.

I have 49cc scooter and it gets up to speed real slow and hits like 30 max so i only use it on residential streets and sidewalks so I would suggest doing that on the street the cops would hit like that!

i know someone who is 120 lbs with a 50 and takes forever to get going. the 150cc would be better but dont kid yourself they will pull you over for ANYTHING!! i would go for the 50cc
