Question:

What to do for the Sat?

I am going to take the Sat soon. I'm only a freshman and I'm taking it to get a quick understanding before I take it again in my junior year. So does anyone have any suggestions for what I should to do to prepare?

  1. You're very smart to want to prepare in advance, but honestly there's not a lot you can do NOW that you'll retain by the time you take the test in two years.

Just do well in school, and exercise your mind regularly by reading etc.

The summer before junior year you can really do some preparation by taking practice tests and things, but doing anything now would be pretty useless. What do you remember now that you learned 2 years ago?

  2. I definitely commend you for getting a head start on preparing for the SAT because long-term SAT preparation is more beneficial than cramming a few months before you take it.  That's because doing well on the SAT is about developing skill sets, not memorizing facts.  I encourage you to go out and buy a test prep book (The Official SAT Study Guide is particularly good) and work through it and do some practice problems.
