  1. Oooh I have always wanted to go to Barcelona.

I suggest going to Las Ramblas, its a long street full of stalls, vendors and street entertainment. Not to mention some nice restaurants, cafes and a theatre.

  2. The whole Gaudi experience is great.  Like nothing I have ever seen before.  We also went to see the Magic Fountain.  Its basically a fountain all lit up with different colour lights and it moves with music (don't know what other way to describe it)  Also great shops.

    Have fun.

  3. The Joan Miro Musuem,  the science center, just wandering around the medieval section of the city.  Look up a place called Vox Populi - their tapas were quite inventive in when I was there in 2002.

Take in the tour and a concert at the Palace of Music as well.   Lots of stuff to do.  Pick up a guide book as well.  I like the Lonely Planet ones.

  4. i travel very extensively in my job into the whole of europe.as a tour bus driver, and Barcelona is one of the most beautiful and pleasing cities i have visited.do as the others say and try the open top city touring bus and la ramblas, also visit the sagrada famillia church and the Olympic stadium, its a stunning city, you really need a few days just in Barcelona itself, and yes do the gaudi part, also if you need to relax away from it all for a day or two it has a very good beach area just past the port,at that time of the year it can be quite pleasant.tho not sunbathing weather.also check out the port area with its revamp and modernisation.you can spend a full day on that too, enjoy the city,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  5. Aloha from Down Unda!

You question reminds me of the 'extended' stay we had in Barcelona.  Extended because we couldn't really justify being in Spain without seeing a 'Sunday' bullfight & the fabulous Flamingo Dance'.  We arrived on a Thurday [in our car which was vandalized on Friday night] & barely were able to endure the immense stench of the city through Sunday.  We really enjoyed the dance but really resented the awful experience of the bullfight!  Oh, don't misunderstand, we hated the bullfight but it was enough repulsion to warrent the extra days to be horrified!  You simply cannot have a better lesson of mass mob influence & hysteria with all the 'Olay'z & the mindset of morons!  The torture of the bull was only justified with the goring of the fighter!  It is indeed a sickness but, without witness to the sickness, we could never appreciate the subtle sophistication of cultures void of such atrocities!  As strong as the visual of gushing blood erupting from the bull, the Flamingo Dance seems as rough as the intensity of the entire mentality of the 'Ole`', sadly primative!  My advice is merely to have a plan to exit Spain as fast as you can after realizing the unforgettable madness that is a Barcelona bullfight!  Thoroughly gruesome!  I will never return to Spain & wouldn't wish it on anyone!  'Texas Chainsaw Masequre' is at least merely a movie & not an accepted way of weekly life!

  6. Take a look down La Ramblas its a big street really nice lots of human statues really fun cool beautiful.

  7. Buy a run around ticket on the open top buses - there are 3 routes - buy all 3 and hop on and off all day - reasonably priced

  8. Have a look at the information on:

    http://www.spanish-property-today.com

    http://www.spanish-property-for-sale.tv

  9. Do the bus tour - I know it sounds super-touristy, but it's the best way to quickly see all of the main attractions in the city - and you can the choose which ones to go back to and at least you will know where they all are.  Also, get a good map - Insight fleximaps are great - they have all of the main attrcations, stations are easy to use, fold up and best of all are waterproof!!!  Hope this helps!!!  Have a great time!
