  1. Before I went, I'd visit their tourism page, and see what interests you the most. I have a friend that lives there, unfortunately, he's asleep right now. The country is beautiful, but, I've know from experience,

that sooo many things we refer to here have different meanings there. For instance, if anyone calls you an eegit, that's a def. insult, as is being called a cow. Kitchen cabinets are called presses there. He came to visit, and I highly recommend you look up Irish slang terms in your search engine. It was very hard to communicate with a man who was born and raised there. Not bad, just felt like I was trying to talk to an alien at times. By the way, they call all candy, sweets. Just idiosyncrasies like that can make for mis-understandings...

  2. wear raingear....or stay by the fire in a nice pub

  3. dont worry, there is so much to do in ireland

    u will love

get some tips from tripadvisior, they are really good.

country is great, cities are good

ppl are wonderful, times just flies.

  4. If you like Guinness, see how many pints you can put down in one day. Start at 12:00 noon at the bar at the top of the Guinness brewery in Dublin (they give you a "free" one at the end of your paid tour). Lots of people get their free one and don't like it, so if you're not fussy, you can have an unlimited supply. Once you've tired of that, start wandering the streets. They say it's impossible to go from one end of Dublin to the other without passing a pub. Try to do it and stop at every pub you cross.

  5. Visit castles...Blarney is a must!  But there's so many more.  Charleville Forest Castle in County Offaly.  Markree Castle, Kilkenny Castle...to name a few.

If you like literature, you should check out sites related to Irish writers such as William Butler Yeats, James Joyce & Lady Gregory.

You can go to ancient places like Newgrange...(or Rock of Cashel in County Tipperary), go on a pub crawl, see the Book of Kells at Trinity College in Dublin.  Visit Giants Causeway and other interesting sites (including Dunluce Castle) along the Antrim Coast.  You can check out some places that might give you info on your ancestors.  Galway is an artsy area, if you're into art.  The Ring of Kerry is another good site to visit.

I'm not from Ireland, by the way...I would love to go there too, so I read alot about the places to see & things to do there.  Anyway, have fun!

  6. goto blarney castle and kiss the blarney stone!

  7. Unless you like cold weather it had better be indoor activities as it is pretty cold in Ireland in March. One consolation though is that wherever you go it will probaly not be crowded.

    Good drinking weather.

  8. It rain s alot there and the best area for fun is Dublin although any of the larger cities provide plenty to do.

  9. Just fyi, the people there are great! Very warm and friendly.
