  1. Sorry to disagree but Boxing is a most effective form of fighting especially as a prerequisite to using  jiu-jitsu ,I can't understand why you would say that as I was a full time bouncer and I faced everything from weapons attacks and multiple attacks and it served me well but saying that I don't know your experience sorry but I have to disagree .

  2. i agree with "zen" but if you want to spend years.. akido or hapkido.... a buddy of mine from work has been taking krav for about  8 months (which is way new to the martial arts world) .. but when he learns "something new and cool" he will show me... and it is something that usally took my instructor 4-6 year of training before i was taught about that, but that is just the difference in the way styles differ (not really in techniquce, rather then the order, and emphasis of whats important), but for all the in close "lip or cheek tearing" the "big nose" guard from Muay Thai works fine... and the i am in the "inside control" position for the Muay Thia clinch  ... so the Muay Thia that i have learned leaves him "too wide" and i take him to the clinch with the best position... and from there he is screwed... not to mention sweeps, take downs, wrist locks (wrist locks are a *****), plus all the eye goudging, colar bone tearin, throat atack, fingers in "funny places" i learned from TKD (it was more than kicks where i studied) but there is a vast knowledge out there of how to properly attack a human body from many different distances (from the jumping kicks in tkd, designed to kick their oponents off of horses, not to score a point in a olympic "fight), to a arm bar while on the ground.... the best advice i can give you is to keep an open mind, be aware of all of the dangers in you enviornment, and avoid them.... good luck

  3. Perhaps you could try karate or kung fu to compliment your Krav Maga skills.

  4. I consider Krav Maga to be a complete fighting system like Jeet Kun Do and many military combative systems. For humane ways to control an angry assailant I would say that a number of different Jujutsu systems provide great ways to guide and control your opponent through pain compliance. I like Wally Jay's Small Circle Jujutsu. It's a great way to humanely subdue someone. Check it out on youtube.

  5. Wing Chung. Great inclose hand to hand skills.  Check out this vid.

Should compliment your Krav Maga training.

  6. If you want practical stuff like escorting someone to the door, controlling a hand with a weapon in it, controlling a head that might try to bite you, go with some type of submission grappling like Judo, Jiu Jitsu, or Sambo.  I wouldn't limit it to those styles, but when you look at dojos, look for ones that other strong adult men work out at and try to stay away from the ones kids break boards at.

  7. British military 'arrest and restrain' techniques are taken from Ju Jitsu possibly adapted some but think that is as close to what you need.  Look up Dan Insanto on Utube for locks and such, hope that helps
