What to feed a Fighting Fish?

I have a Siamese Fighting fish. What kind of improvised food can I feed it before I go to the pet store?

I really don't know of any raw table foods you can give bettas. But they can live a couple days to a week without food.  When you do get proper food, Betta pellets (NOT wardley's). Most brands will do. Also most like blood worms.

You can feed tiny (really tiny) bits of cooked chicken, deshelled peas, if you have any other fish they may eat flake, also small bits of very finely chopped prawn.

A betta can go a few days without any food

really the best food for it is fish food...go to the pet store!
