What to feed my parakeets?

Okay well i have three parakeets. I realize seed is the best food for them,which i do feed them. I a;so know they love millet. But can i feed them fruits and vegetablesthing else or any? If so which ones are the healthiest and most enjoyable for my birds?

Just seed isn't such a good food for caged birds.  They need more variety, because they eat lots of things in the wild.  Roudybush is a better choice than seeds, because it's got all the nutrients blended in, and birds can't pick and choose.

Bits of fruit and veggies are important, but it they have been swilling seeds their whole lives, they might not switch easily.  If you fed your children Oreos every day, they might eat them happily, but it wouldn't be healthy for them.  And they might not suddenly appreciate a nice salad.

They need to be fed a variety of foods. Bird's fed seed-only can be malnourished so they need fruits,veggies,seeds,and nuts to maintain good health.   Dark green and deep orange veggies should be given daily. If your bird won't touch fresh foods then switch him to a pelleted diet. To convert to a half seed half veggie diet,  cutting pieces of banana,strawberries,broccoli,and dark green lettuce into parakeet sized pieces and spreading them on a piece of newspaper and putting the bird on the paper when he's hungry ushually works. Gradulaly increase the size of the fresh food you give him ontil you are giving halved grapes,inch-thick slices of banana,a whole leaf of lettuce attached to the cage or a spoon of regularly grated carrots.

also, protein wise coursly pureed almond milk is good. Soak a small handful of almonds in a cup of water for an hour then pour it all into a blender.
