My brother was just released on bond (5000 dollars) he payed a portion to get out and was making arrangements to pay the rest every two weeks this was for the state of Maryland. He was already on probation in another state DC and that state locked him up for violating his probation (catching another charge altough he wasn't convicted...he's going to trial)What will happen to him he can't make payments being as though he's incarcerated at the present time

  1. They'll keep him in jail (or transfer him to another one) once his current sentence is up.

  2. Bond is to ensure a person will appear in court.  If they violate probation, they are sent back to jail.  If they are in jail, they will appear in court, so the agreement for the bond has been met, the person showed up in court.  If it isn't the same court (DC vs. Maryland) he needs to call his probation officer in the other juridiction and let them know.  If he's out and not paying, he is in violation, will be sent to jail and still have to pay the bond.  Not keeping your word is very, very bad.  It really sounds like you care for your brother, but he doesn't care about himself.  I hope you keep supporting him but don't let him take you down the tubes with him.  Good luck.

  3. well dc will either violate him and send him to do his time, or sanction him. if they sanction him they will make him jump through a bunch of hoops.  the bail bondsman may at his option revoke his bond, or give him more time, depends on the bondsman.  if dc violates him it won't matter as he won't be released by them to be locked up in maryland anyway so his bond there may be irrelevant. it depends on what his charge was and what his p.o. and judge from dc decide.

if dc violates him and sends him off tell him to file for a speedy trial on the other case so he may be able to do as much of his time as possible concurrently
