If I was a Pirate traded to The Yankees I'd dance for joy.

If I was a Yankee traded to The Pirates I'd pitch a fit and consider retirement.

I feel really sorry for Pittsburg. They are a great club with a great tradition and it's a shame to see how they have been mishandled over the past decade. It's a long way from the days of Willie Stargell.

Playoff race? Last I looked the Yankees were in third place behind 2 of the hotest teams in baseball. Neither of these teams are going to the playoffs. In fact the Yankees are going to have a hard time holding onto 3rd place in their division.

If I were on the Yankees and was traded to the Pirates, I would get sick to my stomach. If I were going from the Pirates to a chance to play in the World Series, I be doing cartwheels.

Just focusing on the trade yesterday:

1. I'm a journeyman who has played for horrid teams in San Diego and Pittsburgh, and now I go to a competitive team in NY: I am elated.

2. I'm a prospect in the Yankees system but they keep signing veterans and blocking my path to the majors: I'm elated to have the door open. I can get traded to a competitive team after I prove myself.

Playing in NY is a blessing and a curse at the same time(pressure is huge).  Nady (I'm know that is whom you are referring to) won't have the same pressure of performing like an A Rod or Jeter so in this case, it would be WIN WIN for him personally.  On the flip side, I would say that most players know that a trade to a small city like Pitt would be short term and they will sign elsewhere when the time come up.  If they are signed for a long term contract and the Pirates were to take that on, I would say that the player would eventually request a trade if the team continues to go no where every year.  So to answer your question directly, it would depend on the player greatly but obviously going to NY would be huge compared to playing in a small fan support team like the Pirates.

the first one would be excited and the second would be sick, now xavier nady has experienced both of these ( in 06 was traded to mets who were the best team in the nl at the time to the pirates)

The kids going to Pittsburgh should be elated because now they'll get the playing time they wanted, and the Pirates will probably trade them too, possibly to another contender.

if i was on the pirates traded to the yanks id be ecstatic cuse i get to play in yankee stadium in front of 50,000+ every game with a great team that for the most part wins throughout a season..

if i got traded to the pirates i would be upset, but then face the facts that i'm helping them rebuild and they should be good soon.. maybe :-\

If I was traded from the Yankees to the Pirates, my attitude would be after my contract ends, what is my salary going to be in '09? so I might be happy or discontent.
