Question:

What would you call the career...?

i want to design the interiors of boats when i grow up. maybe house boats to start with but more on the lines of yachts and cruise boats. nothing gigantic like cruise ships though. naval interior designer maybe?

also, would it look better if i worked at a store like Ikea or a store that sold boat parts and such? just to begin with of course

  1. You can shop around and find a formal education in yatch and boat design. Part of the training will involve interior design. After you get your diploma you can specialize in interiors. If you want some experience try to find an apprentice job with someone who does yatch interior refits.

  2. i would get a job that would reflect your interest in the nautical/interior design field. like at an upholstery place that makes interior stuff for boats. or at a boat shop.  if you can speak the lingo of boating, and have experience in some kind of decor, i would guess that would make your future job that much easier to achieve.

  3. You want to be an Interior Designer...Marine Specialty. Westlawn will not help you much.

    Check out Yacht Interior Designers like Starke. Briande...etc. do a search....send them email on how to get started...maybe someone will Apprentice you.
