What do you think are the differences between shy and antisocial. This girl at school said I was an antisocial because I didn't tell many people about my myspace.

antisocial= no friends... at all. dosnt perticipate in class. sits at lunch alone.

shy=quiet but people adore you for that. its verry hard to remain quiet in a romm fulla future convicts lol

pfft sounds like she's the anti-social one stirring up trouble over nothing. big deal you never told that many ppl you have a myspace, your clearly not in desparate need to "befriend" ppl you dont even know. I use mine to keep in touch with my friends, but i would say theres far more important things to worry about than that.

I think social networking sites such as myspace are, themselves, antisocial. they damage social skills.

Shy means wanting to talk to people but being embarrassed or awkward about it and not having confidence in interactions. Antisocial means not wanting to be with people at all and being happier alone.

incidentally, if the girl in question isn't someone you like, why would you tell her? Choosing not to interact with people you don't like isn't anti-social, it's called choosing your friends wisely.

Anti social is a person that doesn't like people or want to meet people a shy person is someone that doesn't have any social skills would like to meet people but doesn't because they are scared that the other person might hurt them in an immotional way

Anti-social people choose to be that way and they have confidence.  Shy people can't help to be that way and they lack confidence.  Simple as that.

I only accept good friends on my myspace and regardless, it's not a topic of conversation all the time.

If it's a "girl at school" -- don't worry about it.  

Anti-social is when a person comes up to talk to you and you totally blow them off.

Being shy is not feeling capable of going up to a person or a group of people you don't know and start up a conversation.

Myspace has nothing to do with EITHER.

Not telling someone about your my space page doesn't make you ani social. It sounds like your a cautious person who likes privacy. Some times people talk to hear them self talk. Dare to be you.

A anti social person is someone who does not interact with others out of fear and taught behavior. A shy person is someone who wants to interact with others but may not know how to open up to others easily . Keep your guard up and remember everyone who tries to be apart of your world  can be accepted or rejected by you. You have choices. You might want to reject the girl at school. She talks too much.

I think that girl is confusing being anti-social, with being private. I'm generally anti-social (in reality) and it's usually because I relay very little information on myself in school and rarely talk to anyone if I don't need to. Then again, that could be viewed as privacy. I guess that there are certain levels then. But no, no, you're definitely not anti-social. The first way I knew was when you mentioned myspace. Unless there is no information, no friends, comments, or pictures...well one you wasted your time making a blank myspace, and two, that would be an "almost" sample of anti-sociology.

Anti-Social would be avoiding human contact as much as possible. If you are shy, you could want to talk to people, just not be able to easily.

There is one defining different between shy people and antisocial people...

Shy people are "scared" usually to talk to others...to be social.

Antisocials are people who "choose" not to talk to others...not because they are scared, but for another reason...they like to be alone, etc...

i would say antisocial is when you dont talk to people because you dont want to and you dont like meeting new people

shy is when you want to talk to people but your nervous or intimidated

Shy is not anti-social, it's just shy. Anti-social is someone who acts violent and aggressive towards others, and does not get along with other people. Shy people are just shy people.

Read a psych book. It's acting hostile or harmful to organized society. Behavior that deviates SHARPLY from the social norm. Shy people are a social norm and they don't act hostile.
