What would you think?

Question

in my story rebels take over the main country and hold the royal family as prisoners. the rebels want power and think that those with power have every right to do what ever they want. then after eight years of the royal family and their royal guard being prisoners they escape and take over. if you were a commoner would you thinking badly of the royal family because it took them so long to escape from their imprisonment? or would you cut them some slack in the matter?

I would feel sorry for the Royal family and think the rebels are sick and demented for doing such a thing No I would not be arny with them I would be pleased that they escaped.
