  1. Get on your state's education board website. It should list all the subjects you must take to graduate high school. You can do them in any order, pretty much.

  2. Here's one typical course of study:

You can also get your state's board of education standards at their web site.

You can mix and match different HS'ing curricula.  You don't have to buy just one "program".

  3. As a home schooler, you are free to choose the curricula that you wish to use.  Home schooling doesn't have to be expensive!  You could do it entirely with library books if you were willing to put in the time and work to find resources.

I would suggest that you read the following 3 books (usually available at libraries):

The Well-Trained Mind by Susan Wise-Bauer

The Teenage Liberation Handbook by Grace Llewellyn

Homeschooling: The Teenage Years by Cafi Cohen

They will provide you and your parents with a wealth of information and insight into the possibilities of homeschooling, as well as the some various methods to do so.

I am using the Connect the Thoughts curriculum to home school my dd(14) for high school.  It available online as e-books and can be downloaded immediately.  It is also very reasonably priced.  I don't have very much money for schooling, but this curriculum is worth it!  It is available at the following link:

Best of luck on your home schooling journey!

  4. Well, I would need to know what courses you took this current year.  Depending on your grades, you might need to spend a little more time on something if you go with home schooling.  Math, science, English, history, p.e. (since you won't have a team sport at home), every class.  It works just like regular school, you move on to the next step every year.  In tenth grade, I took Spanish 2, Chemistry, US history, band(cop-out), football, baseball, wrestling, Pre-Calculus, and English 3, so I'm thinking you might be around there?

As for the actual learning material, you want to look up the most recent editions of textbooks you will need, and your family will need to purchase a student edition for you and a teacher edition for themselves.  Just to let you know, in the end, all the textbooks alone can end up costing $400-1000.  You can find them on Amazon.com, Borders.com(but not their brick-and-mortar establishments), or from the textbook publishers themselves, which in tenth grade would still probably be Houghton-Mifflin.

I should also note your family should be prepared to take on the role of educator.  It is no easy task, you really have to not just know, but understand, what you are teaching, otherwise it's really the blind leading the blind.  It really takes a special kind of person to be able to sufficiently explain how things work to pass on the best knowledge.  Another option would be for your parents to hire a few tutors to help with certain 'classes' at home.
