  1. It's called Mirena, and it can be put in a couple days after you have your baby. With birth control, there are always the change in hormones, so you could be looking at weight gain no matter what. Maybe try the Nuva-Ring, go to Planned Parenthood and ask them.

  2. its called a mirena IUD (intra uterine device) its a good method for someone who is not planning on having a baby in the next five years.  It is the same hormone that is used in the shot.  so most likely you will not get a period.  depending on your insurance, it may or may not be covered.  if it is not covered it is about 600 dollars. (i work for a ob/gyn DR) depending on the state you live in or county there may be programs you can apply for that offer family planning coverage.  if you are concerned about weight gain then you may want to try the nuva ring which is a low dose and more local form of a birth control that sits in the v****a for 3 wks at a time.  its a very good method but can not be used if you are breastfeeding.  the mirena can be used while breastfeeding and can be inserted 6 wks after delivery.  good luck! hope this info is helpful!

  3. the IUD is put in you and works for 5 years.

I have many friends who swear by the IUD.

I dont like the idea personally because as rare as it might be if you were to get pregnant while it is in The doctor will take it out But with removal comes a high risk of miscarriage.    like I said probably very rare but I dont like that.

  4. i believe your talking about mirena and i was told by my gynacologist that it is more effective than getting your tubes tied, my coverage covers it but i was told by the pharmacist that its 500 dollars and my gynacologist was going to put it in at my 6 week appt after i had my baby but i decided to wait till 2 mths later to think about it more.
